Morgenster Olive Farm and Winery
Morgenster Estate in Somerset West is situated in
the heart of the Western Cape winegrowing region. It is a thriving
olive and wine farm, producing Bordeaux-style wines and award-winning
extra virgin olive oil and olive products.
The Nursery
Our olive tree nursery is maintained at the
highest of standards, incorporating modern techniques to produce olive
trees of the utmost quality. The nursery has a variety of trees, some
good source for quality olive oil and others a virtual bouquet of
superior tables olives.

The Olive Cellar
Morgenster's liquid gold - their extra virgin
olive oil - has, since 1999, been the recipient of the coveted
L'Orciolo d'Oro prize in Italy - that's eight consecutive years.
Morgenster's most recent award was being named the "Mill of the year
(2007)", the highest accolade for olive oil producers. Our olive oil
farm was also voted as the best olive oil in the entire Southern
Hemisphere by Olive Business in Sydney Australia. Just before the
close of 2006 when our extra virgin olive oil was selected as one of
the top 15 olive oils in the world (out of 3000 tasted!) and won the
award for the Best Blended Olive Oil in the world.
Morgenster olive farm thus features well in the L'Extravergine
2006 guide which lists its 450 oils selected from 26 countries around
the globe. In the 2007 copy of this guide Morgenster was named as
"Mill of the Year" - a coveted award indeed.

The Winery
Morgenster's flagship wine, the Morgenster 2003
was launched in March 2007 while our second label, Lourens River
Valley, has already been on the market for a couple of years. The
sixth vintage of this label, the Morgenster Lourens River Valley 2003,
was also released in March 2007.
Our wine farm's recent accolades have come in from various
sources and corners of the Globe - two 4½ star ratings in John
Platter 2006 and 2007 for Morgenster and Lourens River Valley; Grape
Magazines 5 star rating of the Morgenster 2000 and 4½ for the Lourens
River Valley 2000; Steve Tanzer International Wine Cellar gave the
Morgenster 2001 91+ - the wine garnered 88 from Robert Parker. The
Advocate and Michael Fridjon's Top Ten selection in the December 2005
