Olive Oil in the Kitchen
Olive oil can be stored for year longer than any other oil. It
should be stored in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Extra virgin
olive oil is made from the first pressing of the fruit, known as cold
pressing, and no chemicals are used during production. This makes for a
healthier substitute to butter or regular oil.
Olive oil can also be frozen, without losing its beneficial health
qualities.
Cooking with Olive Oil
All oils deteriorate when frying, especially when recycled or
used at too high temperature. This can cause such adverse health
problems such as heart problems. However, olive oil is high
in antioxidants and Oleic Acid it retains its beneficial qualities much
more than vegetable oil. It will however lose a lot of its aroma and
taste when used for frying.
Baking with Olive Oil
Olive oil can be used instead of butter or regular Canola oil in your
baking. Not only is it a healthier option, but the antioxidants in extra
virgin olive oil will keep your goods fresher for
longer.
